Knip August (1819 - 1859/1861)
A Dutch painter. He belonged to one of the oldest art dynasties in the Netherlands. Born in Amsterdam. He studied painting under the guidance of his father -J.-A. Knip. He exhibited his works at the exhibitions in Amsterdam (1838, 1840), Rotterdam (1839), Mainz (1838) and Lübeck (1852). In the late 1840s he settled in Baden-Baden. In 1850 he founded his own art studio, where he was teaching. He painted landscapes, scenes of animals, genre sketches of rural life. His works are stored in the Art Museums of Arnhem, Narbonne, Danzig and in many other museums.
