Arnegger Alois (1879 - 1963)

The famous Austrian painter, landscape painter. Born in Vienna. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Arts under the guidance of R. Russ and A. Eisenmenger. Since 1916 - Member of the Vienna Academy of Arts. In the early 1920s, visited Italy, where he admired the coastal Mediterranean motifs. For a time he lived in Italy, painted landscapes of Capri, San Remo, Naples, Castellammare, Lake of Como and other places. These works brought him wide popularity in Europe. On his return to Vienna he painted mainly alpine, forest and winter landscapes. Exhibited his works at exhibitions in Stuttgart, Vienna, Amsterdam, Paris, Stockholm, Munich, Chicago and New York. He painted also portraits and genre scenes. His works are kept in museums and private collections of Western Europe and the USA.
