Carl Rossi (Carlo di Giovanni Rossi, 1775 - 1849)

A Russian architect, painter and graphic artist. Born in Venice. In 1786 he moved to Russia. During 1803 - 1804 he studied in Italy in Florentine Academy of Arts. In 1806 he returned to Russia, he was appointed an artist –in-chief of the glass and porcelain factory in St. Petersburg, then - the architect of "His Majesty's Government". Author of numerous architectural ensembles in St. Petersburg and its suburbs. He painted secular scenes of the XVII - XVIII centuries.
