Gubarev Alexander (1926 )

Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Born in Odessa. In 1944 - 1949 studied in Dnepropetrovsk Art College, in 1949 - 1955 - Kyiv Institute of Art under the guidance of V. Kasian, A. Pashchenko, I. Pleschynskyi. Exhibitor in Republican, All-Union and international exhibitions since 1955. Collaborated with publishers "Veselka", "Ukraine", "Zmina", "Dnipro", "Vsesvit", "Radyanska Zhinka". Illustrated and designed the works of T. Shevchenko, Y. Yanovsky, N. Zabila, Ya. Kupala and many others. National artist of Ukraine since 1993. Corresponding Member of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine since 2006, Academician - since 2009. He held 16 solo exhibitions in Kyiv, Lviv, Uzhgorod, Dnepropetrovsk, Sumy, Chernivtsi, Toronto (Canada) and others. Author of numerous series of linocuts and watercolors. Works are kept in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Lviv, Sevastopol, Odessa, Tomsk, Tyumen, Almaty and other museums in Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Germany and Canada.
