Kolesnikov Stepan Fedorovych (1889 - 1955)
A famous Ukrainian painter, graphic artist, stage designer. Born in the village of Adrianopil, now Lugansk region. During 1897 - 1903 he studied at Odessa Art School (under the guidance of O. Popov), from 1903 till 1909 Р at the High Art School of painting, sculpture and architecture which is included into St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (under the guidance of K. Kostandi and G. Ladyzhenskyy). In 1909 he received the title of the artist and the right for foreign pension. In the years of 1910 - 1912 he traveled across France, Germany and Belgium. In 1904 he participated in the exhibitions of the Academy of Arts, the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions, Moscow Society of Art Lovers. Member and exhibitor of the Society of southern Russian artists and the union named after A. Kuindzhi. In 1909 he was awarded a big gold medal at the Xth International exhibition in Munich. His personal exhibitions were held in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Belgrade, Paris, Prague and Brussels. He lived in St. Petersburg, Odessa, after 1919 - in Belgrade, where he became the professor of Belgrade Academy of Arts. He worked as a stage designer in the National Theatre in Belgrade. Author of landscapes, portraits and genre compositions. His works are presented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Museum of Fine Arts, the Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts, Odessa Art Museum, etc.
